PowerSchool Grade Posting
Today is the first official PowerSchool Grade Posting date of the year.  Please check your grades in PowerSchool in each of your classes to make sure you are on track for success.

Start of School Diagnostic Testing
Achieve 3000 level set will be given in ELA classes this week.

Math Monday is Back! Starting September 12
Math Monday is a 12-week after school math program for young people in grades 3-7 with a focus on problem-solving, study skills, and math enrichment hosted at the Learning Laboratory New Orleans, which is conveniently located only one mile from Lusher. The Learning Lab empowers parents who want to get their kids engaged in and excited about mathematics through authentic learning experiences, including real-life problems, hands-on activities and integration of the latest technology hardware and software.
  • Learners will explore mathematics concepts with fun, relevant hands-on activities and technology.
  • Math Monday lead teacher, Paula Naugle, is a veteran classroom teacher with 40 years of experience and co-author of the book Connecting Your Students with the World.
  • Student volunteers from Tulane University will provide individualized support and homework help for Math Monday participants.
Fall Session 2016 is on Monday afternoons, September 12 - December 5, 2016, 5-6 p.m., with free homework help at 4-5 p.m. at the Learning Laboratory at 7100 St. Charles Avenue in room #203.

Honor Choir Auditions
Each school year students are eligible to audition for the Louisiana All-State Honor Choir and the ACDA National Honor Choir. These auditions are open to all students; not just students enrolled in chorus this semester. Please email or see Mrs. Matherne in room 403 for more information.

Parent Coffee
It’s Coffee Time, Parents!  The first monthly Freret Street Parent Coffee will be this Wednesday, August 31st, from 8-9am in the library.  This is a great opportunity to meet and visit parents and staff and learn what is happening at our school.  And as a special treat, the Lusher Orchestra will be performing!  Come have a morning cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful music.  If you would like to bring a breakfast item or fruit to share, please email Becky Collins at beckyrosecollins@gmail.com.  See you there!

Will be distributed today in homeroom.  All students with IDs are expected to wear them beginning Monday.

Star math assessments will be given in math classes August 22-26.  Achieve 3000 level set will be given in ELA classes August 29-September 2.

City Park Fun Night
Mark your calendars - Saturday, August 27, 7-10.  You will be able buy wristbands in the office starting next week.  Prices are $15 for students 5 years old and up, $5 for adults and kids 2-4 years old.  Kids under 2 get in free.  Lusher faculty and staff free with I.D.

Choral Presentation
Kudos to Dr. Rota, Mrs. Matherne and all students who performed last night at Back to School Night.  Absolutely amazing rendition of the song, We Will.

Schedules for Back to School Night
Students will be given a copy of their schedules to give to their parents for Back to School Night.  Parents will follow their child’s rotation of classes in order to meet the teachers and to hear about the classes.  Students, please make sure you give your parents this copy of your schedule.  Note:  Floating teachers will be in the library for Back to School Night.  

Start of School Diagnostic Testing
Star math assessments will be given in math classes August 22-26.  Achieve 3000 level set will be given in ELA classes August 29-September 2.

1st Day Forms- Past DUE
Please make sure your parents get the packet of 1st day forms.  Return them to your homeroom teacher.  Homeroom Teachers, please alphabetize and hold any forms you collect from your homeroom students.  Keep a record of who has turned in the forms.  We will call for them to be turned in to the office later.   

City Park Fun Night
